Karachi (HRNW)- A suspected robber was killed in an alleged police encounter in the Shah Latif area, while his accomplices escaped after opening fire. Two police constables were injured during the exchange of fire, and weapons, a vehicle, and other items were recovered from the deceased suspect.
According to police, the alleged encounter took place near Green Park City on the National Highway on Sunday morning. A 40-year-old suspected robber was killed, while injured police constables Ghulam Abbas and Zubair Ahmed were shifted for medical treatment after receiving first aid.
SHO Shah Latif Inspector Mumtaz Marwat said the deceased was identified through an identity card as Qaiser Khan, son of Afsar Khan. His identity will also be verified through biometric records. The suspect’s accomplices managed to flee the scene after firing at police.
Police said the deceased was reportedly a resident of Landhi New Muzaffarabad Colony in Karachi’s Malir district, while his ancestral home was in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Authorities recovered a pistol with ammunition, a mobile phone, cash, and a white Toyota Corolla Altis from the suspect. Police said the recovered vehicle has been cleared through the CPL record, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
