40 Days of Captivity for Oil Tanker ‘Honor 25’ Crew, 10 Pakistani Hostages Remain Unreleased

MOGADISHU (HRNW) – The hijacking of the oil tanker Honor 25 by Somali pirates has reached its 40th day, with all hostages, including 10 Pakistani nationals, still remaining in captivity. According to diplomatic sources, the Somali government is currently engaged in negotiations with the pirates through the owner of the oil tanker, but no breakthrough has been achieved so far.

Sources state that the pirates initially demanded a ransom of $1 million, which was subsequently raised to $4 million, but the dialogue remains inconclusive.

According to reports, Somali pirates boarded and seized the oil tanker Honor 25 on April 21, taking 17 crew members hostage. The hijacked crew includes 10 Pakistanis, 4 Indonesians, 1 Indian, and 1 citizen of Myanmar. Diplomatic sources have confirmed that the vessel is currently anchored close to the Somali coast under the control of the hijackers.
