Earthquakes Shake Turkey and Iran, 5.6 Magnitude in Malatya and 4.7 in Hormozgan

Istanbul/Tehran (HRNW)- Earthquake tremors have been felt in Turkey and Iran, causing panic and fear in different areas.

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded in eastern Turkey. The tremors were felt in the Battalgazi district of Malatya province, after which schools were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure. According to officials, aftershocks are also ongoing.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) confirmed the 5.6-magnitude earthquake, while Turkish officials said no immediate reports of casualties or property damage have been received.

On the other hand, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake was also recorded in southern Iran. The tremors were felt in different areas, including Iran’s Hormozgan province, particularly in the rural regions of Qeshm, Hormoz, and Bandar Abbas.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) confirmed the 4.7 magnitude earthquake, saying the depth of the quake was recorded at 14 kilometres. According to Fars News Agency, the epicentre of the quake was near Bandar Laft, while Iranian media reported the depth of the quake at 20 kilometres.
