Karachi, Pakistan (HRNW)- Sajad Ali Somroo, Member of the Sindh Assembly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, addressed community leaders, presidents, general secretaries, and members of various communities in Lyari during a Hol Foundation program, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the rights of girls.
He stated that “Our daughters are our responsibility”, warning against rushing into marriages, as it can sometimes ruin the lives of girls after marriage, leaving families helpless.
Sajjad Ali Somroo highlighted that after the death of parents, the responsibility for sisters’ rights falls on brothers, and it is their duty to ensure their daughters’ and sisters’ safety and well-being. He advised that when a marriage proposal comes for a girl, families should avoid hasty decisions, thoroughly check the prospective groom’s background, social circle, and environment, to prevent any potential harm.
He further reminded the community that in the eyes of Allah, accountability is not limited to prayers, fasting, and charity, but also includes protecting the rights of sisters, daughters, and wives. He urged community leaders, presidents, and secretaries to take their responsibilities seriously and actively ensure the protection of girls’ rights within their communities.
