Karachi (HRNW)- Sindh Minister for Labor, Manpower and Social Security Saeed Ghani has strongly opposed any division of Sindh, saying the province will have only one chief minister, one governor, one assembly and one cabinet.
Speaking to the media outside the Sindh Assembly, Ghani criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami, accusing the latter of attempting to revive the politics of the former in Karachi. He also condemned calls for strikes and incidents of burning and violence, describing such actions as unacceptable.
Ghani said the Sindh Assembly is expected to pass a resolution opposing the creation of any new province in Sindh. He maintained that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other political parties in the province have repeatedly opposed the division of Sindh.
He said the PPP has a two-thirds majority in the provincial assembly and emphasized that the party does not support any division of the province. He added that administrative units such as divisions, districts, talukas and sub-divisions can be discussed within existing legal frameworks, but such arrangements cannot be used to create multiple chief ministers or separate provincial governments.
The provincial minister said any attempt to introduce another system under the name of administrative units would not be acceptable to the PPP, either now or in the future. He also said the people of Sindh have repeatedly rejected separatist and nationalist politics through elections.
