Lahore (HRNW)- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a major crackdown on corruption, malpractice and misuse of authority across the province, with a special secret cell established to identify corrupt practices and initiate action against those involved.
The chief minister has directed that reports from the secret cell be submitted directly to her, while arrests in connection with corruption cases have already begun. She also announced a public helpline 1350 for citizens to report corruption, bribery and misuse of power, assuring that the identities of complainants will remain confidential.
Maryam Nawaz said action would continue until illegally obtained public money is fully recovered. She emphasized that corruption is not merely the theft of money but also a violation of citizens’ rights and trust.
The chief minister has ordered the implementation of a modern monitoring system for development projects, including independent reviews of project quality and expenditures. She also directed authorities to ensure that complaints regarding corruption are acted upon within the stipulated time.
Maryam Nawaz warned that no individual involved in corruption would be protected by position, personal connections or recommendations. She said public funds must be spent transparently for the benefit of the people and reiterated that there would be no room or concession for corruption in Punjab.
