Karachi (HRNW)- The FIA Commercial Banks Circle Karachi has arrested four suspected illegal currency dealers and recovered millions of rupees and foreign currency during a targeted operation against illegal currency trading and the hundi-hawala network.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the operation was conducted near a private bank in DHA Phase-II Extension, Sunset Lane, Karachi South, on the directions of FIA Karachi Zone Director Muntaz Mehdi and under the supervision of the Deputy Director, FIA Commercial Banks Circle Karachi.
The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Noman, Zeeshan Javed Sheikh, Mansoor and Maleeha Naz Hashmi. Authorities recovered $25,000, 47 million Iranian rials, Rs50,000, a Suzuki Alto vehicle and five mobile phones from their possession.
The FIA said the mobile phones contain important digital evidence allegedly linked to illegal hundi-hawala transactions. The suspects and recovered items have been transferred to the FIA Commercial Banks Circle Karachi, where a case has been registered following legal proceedings.
Further investigations are underway to trace other facilitators, financial links and key members of the alleged network, with authorities expecting additional arrests.
