Islamabad (HRNW)- Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide visited the Interior Ministry in Islamabad, where he held an important meeting with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss bilateral relations and the regional situation.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism, prevention of illegal immigration, police training, and mutual legal assistance. The situation in Afghanistan and the activities of banned organizations there were also discussed.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against illegal immigration, adding that Pakistan’s measures have contributed to a 47 percent reduction in illegal immigration to Europe. He said the European Union has appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and stressed the importance of promoting legal migration channels.
Naqvi also said that Afghan territory continues to be used for terrorism against Pakistan and called for greater international cooperation to eliminate terrorism.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. He also praised the Pakistani community in Norway for its contributions to politics, healthcare, and other fields.
The two sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, Federal Secretary Interior, and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
