Karachi (HRNW) — An Additional District and Sessions Court (East) heard the pre-arrest bail petition of Muhammad Ahmed, business partner of slain young businessman Mir Raza, in the murder case.
Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, arrived at the City Court along with his lawyers, who opposed the bail application.
During the hearing, Advocate Daniyal Hussain submitted that police had not yet nominated Muhammad Ahmed as an accused in the case. Counsel for Mir Raza’s father argued that pre-arrest bail cannot be sought before a person is formally nominated as an accused.
The lawyer further stated that if there were concerns regarding alleged police harassment, an appropriate application could be filed under the relevant laws.
After hearing the arguments, the court extended the interim bail of Muhammad Ahmed until August 24.
The court directed the accused to cooperate with the investigation and restrained the police from harassing him.
Further proceedings in the case will take place on August 24.
