Tehran (HRNW) — Iran has announced the launch of formal legal proceedings over alleged war crimes in the context of recent military operations against the United States and Israel. According to the Iranian state news agency IRNA, judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir said charges have been filed against multiple US and Israeli officials.
Jahangir stated that Iran will seek to hold these individuals accountable under international law for allegations including war crimes, crimes against humanity and alleged genocide. He said the Iranian judiciary, the attorney general, domestic legal experts and international specialists are gathering evidence to present these cases before international forums.
Iranian authorities say more than 3,000 civilian claims have already been filed against the US and Israel. The presidential office for legal affairs and the Foreign Ministry are working jointly to advance these cases through international institutions.
