Hormozgan (HRNW) — According to Iranian authorities in Hormozgan province, an attack they describe as carried out by US “terrorists” has destroyed a desalination plant in the coastal village of Banji, leaving nearly 10,000 people without access to safe drinking water.
Citing the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the chief executive of the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company said the attack has completely cut off water supply to 20 villages, creating a severe water crisis in the affected areas.
Iranian officials have strongly condemned the strike, calling it an attack on civilian infrastructure. Experts warn that disruption of drinking water supplies can lead to outbreaks of waterborne diseases and other serious health problems, raising fears of a growing humanitarian crisis.
