West, Thana Surjani: Police party exchanges fire with armed suspects; ASI Gulfam Khan wounded in foot

Karachi (HRNW) — According to District West Police, Karachi, on 18 July 2026 in Lyari 36 under Thana Surjani, a police party on area patrol encountered armed suspects. The police signaled two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle to stop, but instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the police. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gulfam Khan was slightly wounded in the foot during the exchange of fire. The suspects fled the scene.

The injured police officer was immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment and legal formalities. Police are present at the crime scene and at the hospital, and procedural actions are underway. Operations to arrest the fleeing suspects involved in the incident are ongoing.
