Deadly Floods and Landslides in Bangladesh Kill 44, Over One Million Affected

Dhaka (HRNW)- Days of torrential rainfall have caused widespread devastation across Bangladesh, triggering severe floods and landslides that have claimed at least 44 lives and left many others injured.

According to reports, more than one million people have been stranded in the country’s southeastern regions, with Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, and Habiganj among the worst-affected areas.

Bangladesh is considered one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries, experiencing frequent floods, river erosion, and landslides during the annual monsoon season.

Scientists say that climate change has made heavy rainfall events more frequent and intense, increasing the scale of destruction and the severity of natural disasters across the region.
