Iran Accuses US of Trying to Create Illegal Route Through Strait of Hormuz, Warns of Strong Response

Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has accused the United States of attempting to create an illegal route through the Strait of Hormuz, with Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad Akramani alleging that US interference in the strategic waterway is creating insecurity in the region. He said the United States should abide by the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), warning that Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to defend the rights of the Strait of Hormuz and the Iranian people.

Brigadier General Mohammad Akramani stated that any attempt to undermine Iran’s interests in the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a firm response. Meanwhile, Iranian Chief Negotiator Baqir Qalibaf wrote on X that the era of unilateral agreements is over, saying, “We told you to either fulfill your promises or pay the price for breaking them. The truth is now before you.”
