Washington (HRNW)- A major investigation has been launched in the United States into alleged fraud involving the H-1B and PERM visa programs, with reports indicating that Indian IT company Cognizant is among the firms under investigation.
According to The Indian Express, US authorities have begun examining alleged irregularities in visa applications that may have exploited foreign workers and affected employment opportunities for American workers.
The report said the investigation is being carried out by a task force reportedly headed by US Vice President JD Vance. According to US Department of Labor Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito, subpoenas have been issued to several companies as part of the ongoing inquiry, including Cognizant.
The investigation is focused on determining whether companies improperly used H-1B and PERM visa processes. No final findings or charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
