Iranian State Media Claims Over 40 Million Attended Ali Khamenei’s Six-Day Funeral

Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian state media has claimed that between 41 million and 43 million people attended the six-day funeral ceremonies for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, describing the event as one of the largest public gatherings in the country’s history.

According to Al Jazeera, Iranian state broadcaster Press TV claimed that Ali Khamenei’s funeral was the largest funeral procession and public gathering in world history.

The report said condolence ceremonies were held across Tehran, Qom, Mashhad in Iran, and Najaf and Karbala in Iraq, where millions of mourners reportedly participated at different stages of the funeral.

According to Iranian media, the official funeral began last week at the Grand Mosque religious complex in Tehran, where thousands of people gathered to pay their final respects before funeral prayers and processions continued in several other cities.

The attendance figures have been reported by Iranian state media and have not been independently verified.
