Karachi (HRNW): The Government of Sindh has announced a key administrative change by appointing Fawad Ghaffar Soomro as the Managing Director (BS-20) of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB).
According to an official notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD), Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, who had been serving as Special Secretary (BS-20) in the Sindh Health Department, has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board with immediate effect.
The notification states that Mr. Soomro will continue to serve in his existing pay scale and remains within the promotion zone under the applicable service rules.
The Sindh Government has also relieved the former Managing Director, Tariq Ali Nizamani, of his responsibilities and directed him to report to the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD) for further posting.
The appointment was made through an official notification issued on 6 July 2026, following the approval of the Chief Secretary of Sindh.
Governance experts note that the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board plays a vital role in urban sanitation, municipal waste management, environmental protection, and public health. They say the new leadership is expected to strengthen institutional performance, improve service delivery, and enhance transparency in the Board’s operations.
