Sindh Health Department Releases Malaria Situation Report

Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh Health Department’s Vector-Borne Diseases Program has released the latest statistical data regarding the malaria situation in the province for the period spanning January 1 to April 23, 2026.


Key Statistics at a Glance

According to the report, a comprehensive screening of 707,724 individuals was conducted across the province. Out of these, 26,059 cases tested positive for Malaria.

Breakdown by Infection Type:

  • Plasmodium Vivax (PV): 21,854 cases

  • Plasmodium Falciparum (PF): 3,879 cases

  • Mixed Infections: 326 cases

Note: In a positive development, the report indicates zero hospitalizations or deaths related to cerebral malaria during this period.

The data shows varying levels of prevalence across the province, with the highest numbers reported in the Hyderabad and Larkana divisions.

  • Capacity Building: Enhancing the infrastructure and response capabilities of healthcare facilities.


Public Advisory

The Health Department urges citizens to take proactive steps to protect themselves, including:

  1. Using mosquito repellents and nets.

  2. Ensuring no stagnant water remains in or around residential areas.

  3. Immediate Action: In case of fever or malaria-like symptoms, residents are advised to contact their nearest health center immediately.
