Former US Vice President Dick Cheney Dies at 84 After Battling Pneumonia

Washington (HRNW)- An important and controversial leader in American politics, 84-year-old Dick Cheney was undergoing treatment for pneumonia.

According to the American news agency, Dick Cheney was being treated at home by a team of expert doctors, but he could not survive.

Dick Cheney was also suffering from other diseases related to aging, including heart disease, and had become quite weak.

He served as vice president during both terms of George W. Bush’s presidency from 2001 to 2009. He was also the chief of staff of President Gerald Ford’s White House.

During his vice presidency, he played a prominent role in American foreign policy and counter-terrorism measures after the September 11 attacks.

Born in Nebraska on January 30, 1941, Dick Cheney was also elected as a member of the US Congress from Wyoming.

He also served as Secretary of Defense from 1989 to 1993, and this period included decisions on the Gulf War.

He directly intervened in key administration decisions and played a role beyond that of traditional vice presidents.

However, he was also heavily criticized for advocating the US invasion of Iraq, espionage, and supporting unconventional warfare strategies.
