KARACHI (HRNW): The High Court has ordered police authorities to take urgent measures for the recovery of four missing citizens during a hearing on multiple disappearance petitions. Expressing grave concern over the safety of citizens, the court summoned the SDPO Sharae Faisal and officials from the Airport Police Station to appear in person on May 7 to provide a detailed briefing on the progress of their investigations. According to the petitioners, Zulfiqar Ali went missing from the jurisdiction of the Sharae Faisal police station, while Naveed Anwar and Mohammad Ali disappeared from the Airport police station area.
During the proceedings, the court remarked that the disappearance of citizens is a serious matter and that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated. The bench directed the police to fulfill their legal responsibilities diligently and ensure that justice is provided to the grieving families. The police officials have been instructed to submit comprehensive reports regarding the whereabouts of the missing individuals, with the court reiterating that law enforcement must prioritize the fundamental right to liberty and protection for all residents of the metropolis.
