Court Grants Ninth-Grade Student Conditional Permission to Sit for Exams Amid School Fee Dispute

KARACHI (HRNW): The High Court has issued a conditional order allowing a ninth-grade student to participate in his annual examinations following a legal dispute over the premature collection of fees by a private school. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that the school administration had issued fee vouchers for the months of June and July well ahead of schedule. According to a circular issued by the Education Department, fees for June and July are mandated to be collected during April and May, respectively. The counsel further maintained that all currently due fees for the student had already been cleared.

The petition stated that despite lodging complaints with the relevant education authorities regarding the early fee demand, no action was taken, forcing the family to seek judicial intervention. While granting permission for the student to sit for his exams without hindrance, the court stipulated that the student’s results should not be released until the next hearing. The court has summoned a response from the Advocate General of Sindh and other stakeholders, adjourning the case until the next scheduled date for a detailed review of the school’s compliance with provincial regulations.
