Saudi Air Defenses Intercept 20 Drones and Ballistic Missile Targeting Key Areas

Riyadh (HRNW)- The Saudi Ministry of Defense has announced that the kingdom’s air defense forces successfully destroyed 20 drones and one ballistic missile that were targeting multiple locations across the country.

According to Arab News, the ministry said in messages shared on the social media platform X that the latest wave of attacks began at around 7 p.m. on Friday, roughly 10 hours after a previous attack reported at 9 a.m. the same day.

Officials stated that most of the drones were intercepted in the Eastern Province, while two drones were destroyed in the Rub’ al Khali and one drone was intercepted in Al Jawf.

The ballistic missile was reportedly aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base, located about 80 kilometers southeast of Riyadh, but it was successfully destroyed in the air before reaching its target.

Authorities said the kingdom’s air defense systems remain on high alert amid rising regional tensions.
