Muscat (HRNW)- The recent nuclear talks between the United States and Iran in Muscat, Oman, were described as positive by leaders of both countries, though tensions remain high. The delegations met separately with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaid, who relayed Iran’s initial plan to the US and communicated the US position to Tehran. Following the talks, the US announced new sanctions targeting shipping companies and vessels to curb Iran’s oil exports. US President Donald Trump called the indirect talks “very good” and confirmed a second round is scheduled for next week, while warning of severe consequences if Iran fails to reach a deal. Iran also praised the constructive atmosphere and agreed to continue talks. The discussions occurred amid heightened regional military alert, with a US aircraft carrier fleet on standby, and come after last year’s joint US-Israel operations against Iranian nuclear facilities and commanders.
