Washington (HRNW)- The US Navy’s aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is set to depart for the Middle East in the coming weeks for a deployment expected to last at least seven months, with around 5,000 personnel aboard.
US Navy officials said the crew has been instructed to prepare for a deployment potentially lasting around eight months. The move comes amid continued military tensions in the Middle East and growing pressure on US Navy personnel from extended deployments.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt can operate as a mobile naval base, carrying thousands of personnel along with fighter aircraft and other military assets. Its deployment is expected to strengthen the US naval presence in the region.
The planned mission follows the lengthy deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln, which reportedly remained at sea for more than 250 days during its Middle East deployment, raising concerns over the impact of prolonged missions on service members and their families.
The new deployment highlights Washington’s intention to maintain a sustained naval presence in the Middle East while balancing operational readiness with the challenges associated with extended deployments.
