Toronto (HRNW) — A 46-year-old Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess, Hina Sani, has been found guilty in connection with the smuggling of two counterfeit Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) port-of-entry stamps through Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Hina Sani was arrested in 2024 after Canadian authorities reportedly discovered two fake CBSA port stamps in her luggage. Such stamps are used to authenticate a person’s legal entry into Canada.
During court proceedings, Sani reportedly told the court that she was carrying the stamps to Canada for an acquaintance. However, the court found her guilty of smuggling counterfeit items.
The case has raised important questions about the intended purpose of the forged government stamps and whether they were potentially meant to facilitate fraudulent immigration or entry-related activities in Canada.
The development comes amid previous reports of several PIA crew members going missing after arriving in Canada, bringing renewed attention to immigration, security and staff-related concerns involving the airline.
