Karachi (HRNW) — The Sindh High Court has adjourned the hearing of former BRT Yellow Line Project Director Zameer Abbasi’s bail application in a case involving alleged corruption of Rs8.5 billion.
The bail hearing was adjourned without substantive proceedings after the court noted that more than 125 cases were fixed for hearing today and asked whether the lawyers could keep their arguments brief.
The lawyers submitted that the case was of significant importance and requested the court to fix an early date for the hearing.
Accepting the lawyers’ request, the court adjourned the hearing until September 1.
Earlier, the Provincial Anti-Corruption Court had rejected Zameer Abbasi’s bail application.
According to Anti-Corruption authorities, the accused is alleged to have caused a loss of approximately Rs8.5 billion to the national exchequer through advance payments in connection with the BRT Yellow Line Project.
