Tehran (HRNW): Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it disabled two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz after they allegedly violated navigation regulations.
According to a statement issued by the IRGC, the tankers ignored official warnings, switched off their navigation systems, and attempted to pass through a route reportedly containing naval mines, prompting Iranian forces to take action.
Earlier, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) confirmed that two Emirati tankers in the southern Strait of Hormuz were struck by cruise missiles. According to available reports, one Indian crew member was killed in the incident, while details regarding additional casualties and damage are still emerging.
The incident has further heightened tensions in the Gulf region, raising international concerns over maritime security, global energy supplies, and the safety of one of the world’s busiest shipping routes.
International observers have urged all parties to exercise restraint, respect international law, and pursue diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation and safeguard regional stability.
