Tehran (HRNW)- Loud explosions have reportedly been heard near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island in southern Iran, adding to growing regional tensions amid the ongoing confrontation between Iran and the United States.
According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, multiple explosions were reported in the country’s southern coastal areas on Sunday. Initial reports indicated that no residential areas or commercial infrastructure were damaged, and no civilian casualties had been confirmed.
The report stated that US forces had carried out attacks in Iran’s southern coastal regions over recent nights. Iranian sources claimed that several fishermen and personnel assigned to defend the area had been killed during those operations.
Iranian authorities described the alleged attacks as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and accused the United States of further escalating tensions in the region.
There has been no immediate official response from US authorities regarding the reported explosions or the allegations made by Iran.
Political and defense analysts note that Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz, are strategically important areas. Any military escalation in the region could significantly affect global maritime trade, oil shipments, and broader regional security.
