Islamabad (HRNW)- On the occasion of Constitution Day, the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, while issuing separate messages, have termed the importance of the Constitution and its full implementation as indispensable for the stability of democracy.
Asif Ali Zardari said in his message that the 1973 Constitution is the guarantee of Pakistan’s democratic identity, federal balance and civil rights. He said that the foundation of a unified constitutional system was laid under the leadership of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
The President emphasized that the Constitution is not just a legal document but a basic guiding principle for the functioning of state institutions, only with its full implementation can democracy and justice be maintained.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his message that today we are celebrating the day of approval of the Constitution of Pakistan with national spirit and pay tribute to the architects of the Constitution.
He said that the unanimous constitution passed on April 10, 1973, laid the foundation for a parliamentary democratic system and a strong state structure, while this constitution also protects the fundamental rights of all citizens.
The Prime Minister said that the constitution is a symbol of federation and national unity and Pakistan will continue its journey towards progress and prosperity.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the 1973 constitution is a milestone of national unity and democratic stability.
Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also called the observance and implementation of the constitution essential for the country’s development.
