Islamabad (HRNW) — The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists, led by President Tariq Usmani, General Secretary Rizwan Ghalzai, and the Executive Council, has strongly condemned the harassment of senior journalist Javeria Siddiq, widow of martyred anchor Arshad Sharif, by unknown miscreants. The attackers reportedly shouted threats outside her residence, causing distress to the journalist and her family.
The Union has urged Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, and other law enforcement agencies to track down the culprits, bring them to justice, and provide complete protection to Javeria Siddiq and her family.
The Union highlighted that Javeria Siddiq is still grieving the loss of her husband, and subjecting her to harassment and threats instead of justice adds further mental and emotional distress. The Union demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and immediate action against the responsible parties.
