DG FIA Raufat Mukhtar Raja Reviews Immigration Operations at Islamabad International Airport

Islamabad (HRNW)DG FIA Raufat Mukhtar Raja visited Islamabad International Airport to review immigration operations and procedures in detail.

The airport handles 94 international flights daily, processing over 10,000 international passengers each day. On January 13, 2,400 passengers were cleared in a single hour. During peak periods, the simultaneous arrival of multiple flights can cause temporary congestion.

FIA Immigration at Islamabad Airport operates in three shifts, with 15 counters for departures and 13 counters for arrivals. Weather conditions and technical issues occasionally contribute to flight delays, further increasing passenger congestion.

DG FIA issued directives to ensure the provision of efficient and high-quality immigration services for travelers. He approved the installation of a queue management system and phased implementation of e-gates. Queue staff will be deployed to guide passengers, and a pre-departure app will soon be introduced to facilitate faster immigration processing.
