Sargodha (HRNW): The Ambassador of Mauritius has praised Pakistani Basmati rice, saying that “there is no match for Pakistani Basmati rice in the world” and that people in Mauritius are particularly fond of Pakistani rice.
The ambassador said Mauritius has the potential to become a major market for Pakistani rice, IT services, jewellery, handicrafts and cosmetics.
He said that work is currently underway at the government level on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Mauritius, with hopes that the agreement will be finalized soon.
The ambassador said the doors of Mauritius are open to Pakistani traders and that business and trade links between the chambers of commerce of both countries would be strengthened.
He also announced that B2B meetings between Pakistani and Mauritian businessmen would be arranged to facilitate direct business connections.
According to the ambassador, the FTA would significantly increase trade and commercial activities between Pakistan and Mauritius. He said there is considerable market potential for Pakistani products in Mauritius and encouraged businesses in both countries to explore new trade opportunities.
Representatives of the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce said that Sargodha is well known for its kinnow production and also has significant potential in rice, textiles, electrical products, handicrafts and pink salt.
Sargodha Chamber President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum emphasized the need to create new opportunities for trade, investment and business cooperation between Pakistan and Mauritius.
Malik Asif Ameer Awan expressed a desire to facilitate greater access for Pakistani products to the Mauritian market and further strengthen bilateral commercial relations.
