Iran Condemns US Attack on Lark Island, Calls Strikes on US Bases in Jordan ‘Legitimate Defense’

Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has strongly condemned the latest US military operation against Lark Island, describing its retaliatory strikes on US military bases in Jordan as a legitimate act of self-defense.

In a statement issued Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Tehran strongly condemned the US operation and maintained that Iranian forces had acted within their legal and natural right to defend themselves following the attack.

Iran said its targeting of US military installations in Jordan was carried out in response to US attacks against Iranian territory. Tehran maintained that it has the right to take defensive measures to protect its sovereignty and national security.

The United States, meanwhile, has described its actions as defensive, saying they were intended to counter alleged efforts by Iranian forces to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz and to protect commercial shipping.

The latest developments have raised concerns over further escalation between Iran and the United States, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy and commercial shipping.
