Karachi (HRNW): The Central Committee of Meri Pehchan Pakistan (MPP) has criticized the ongoing development project on University Road, Karachi, calling it a reflection of the Sindh government’s alleged mismanagement, poor planning and failure to protect the public from severe disruption.
In a joint statement, the committee leaders said millions of citizens are facing daily traffic congestion, environmental pollution, additional fuel expenses and business losses because of the ongoing work.
The leaders said University Road is one of Karachi’s most important thoroughfares, but the slow pace of construction and the absence of an effective alternative traffic management plan have severely affected students, teachers, patients, public and private-sector employees, and the business community.
According to the statement, commuters are spending hours stuck in traffic, resulting in significant losses of valuable time and financial resources.
The MPP leaders said the purpose of development projects should be to facilitate citizens and improve public services, but the current situation has turned the project into a source of continuing hardship and inconvenience for Karachi residents.
They also expressed concern over the alleged unusual delays and possible increases in project costs, calling for greater transparency and effective planning to minimize the impact on citizens.
