Islamabad (HRNW): The federal government has cancelled the licenses of 50 pilots and suspended the licenses of 33 others over allegations concerning fake or irregular pilot licenses.
According to the Ministry of Defence, international restrictions imposed by the United Kingdom, European Union and United States on PIA international flights following the pilot-license controversy resulted in an estimated Rs200 billion loss in revenue for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) between August 2020 and December 2024.
According to the ministry, action against the concerned pilots was taken under the Civil Aviation Rules, 1994.
Officials said the controversy surrounding pilot licenses and the resulting international restrictions affected Pakistan’s aviation sector and the international operations of the national airline, causing substantial financial losses to PIA.
