Islamabad (HRNW): The government has rejected foreign media reports concerning PTI founder Imran Khan, stating that access to a prisoner in jail cannot be used as a means of political activity or unrestricted political communication from inside the prison.
Government officials said jail rules and regulations apply equally to all prisoners, and meetings or communication with any inmate must take place in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.
Officials maintained that meetings with Imran Khan cannot be used for political activities, political coordination or issuing political directions directly from prison.
The government’s position is that prison authorities take decisions regarding meetings and communications with inmates in accordance with applicable laws and security requirements.
