Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has strongly criticized the United Kingdom’s proposed plan to ban support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), describing the move as hostile, irresponsible, and contrary to international law.
In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the British government’s proposed measures were unjustified, illegal, and in violation of the fundamental principles of international law.
The ministry stated that Iran views such actions as harmful to bilateral relations and diplomatic norms, urging the UK to respect international law and the sovereignty of independent states.
The criticism follows the British government’s announcement of a plan that could prohibit support for or activities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The proposal also includes action against an Iran-linked group accused of involvement in several attacks targeting the Jewish community in the United Kingdom.
Iran has rejected both the allegations and the proposed sanctions, arguing that the measures are politically motivated and intended to increase pressure on Tehran.
According to analysts, relations between Iran and the United Kingdom are already strained over a range of regional and international issues, and the latest developments could further escalate diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Experts warn that if Britain proceeds with the plan, it could affect not only Iran-UK relations but also broader diplomatic engagement between Iran and European countries.
