Karachi (HRNW): The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) has announced the results of its annual elections, with lawyers electing a new leadership for key offices.
For the President’s position, Advocate Amir Nawaz Waraich secured 2,063 votes to win the election. His opponent, Advocate G.M. Korai, finished second with 948 votes.
In the contest for Vice President, Advocate Uzair Ghouri was elected after receiving 893 votes, while Advocate Nazeer Shar secured 805 votes, placing second.
For the office of Secretary, Advocate Arshad Shar emerged victorious with 1,370 votes. His closest rival, Advocate Ghulam Rahman Korai, received 1,197 votes.
The election for Joint Secretary was won by Advocate Riaz Korai, who secured 1,520 votes, defeating Advocate Nazim Channa, who received 729 votes.
The annual Karachi Bar Association elections are regarded as an important event for Pakistan’s legal community, with elected office bearers expected to represent lawyers’ interests, strengthen the legal profession, and work for improvements in judicial and bar-related affairs.
