Nawabshah: Ministers Gather at Zardari House as President Issues “Public Service” Directives, but Hometown Plagued by Inflation and Blackouts

NAWABSHAH (HRNW) – On the festive occasion of Eid al-Adha, President Asif Ali Zardari’s hometown of Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah) became the hub of federal and provincial elite political activity. However, for the local residents, Eid celebrations were overshadowed by crushing inflation and a severe lack of basic municipal facilities.

According to an official press release issued by the Presidency, President Asif Ali Zardari hosted high-level Eid meetings at Zardari House, Nawabshah. The political gathering included Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Provincial Ministers Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and various other members of the national and provincial assemblies. During the sessions, the President directed the provincial leadership to prioritize resolving public grievances and to accelerate development projects across Sindh.

Despite these presidential directives, local public and political circles have expressed deep disappointment, calling out the stark contrast between Zardari House’s administrative rhetoric and Nawabshah’s grim ground realities.

Local citizens have highlighted several critical grievances:

Nawabshah’s Grim Realities Outside Zardari House

  • Failure of Price Control Committees: Residents complained that the district administration completely failed to curb artificial inflation and illegal price-gouging by profiteers during the Eid season, driving the cost of essential food items out of reach for the common man.

  • Mafia Encroachments on Public Lands: Severe complaints have emerged regarding influential land mafias occupying various government residential colonies and state-owned lands, while the local administration remains a silent spectator.

  • HESCO’s Extreme Negligence: The people of Nawabshah lamented that the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) subjected the city to brutal unscheduled load-shedding and voltage fluctuations even during the Eid holidays, making life miserable amidst scorching summer temperatures.

Public circles have questioned whether the ministers being lectured on “public service” by the President will step outside the secured walls of Zardari House to witness the city’s dilapidated infrastructure. The citizens of Nawabshah are left waiting to see if the presidential intervention will bring genuine relief to his hometown or if the promises will remain confined to official press releases.
