Faisalabad: Woman Protests Against SP Iqbal Town, Alleging Abandonment After Marriage

FAISALABAD (HRNW): A dramatic scene unfolded at District Council Chowk today as a woman staged a sit-in protest against a high-ranking police official, claiming she had been deceived and abandoned after marriage.

The woman, who sat on the road blocking traffic, identified herself as the wife of SP Iqbal Town, Saeed Ahmed. She publicly alleged that the SP had entered into a marriage with her but has since gone into hiding and is refusing to acknowledge their relationship or fulfill his marital obligations.

Incident Highlights:

  • Public Protest: The complainant occupied a central location at District Council Chowk, drawing a large crowd and causing significant disruption to the flow of traffic.

  • Police Intervention: Upon receiving reports of the protest, the SHO of Civil Lines Police Station arrived at the scene. After initial negotiations and attempts to calm the situation, the police successfully persuaded the woman to move her protest.

  • Case Escalation: The woman was subsequently escorted by the SHO to the office of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) for a formal hearing and to initiate further legal or departmental proceedings regarding her claims.

Official Stance:

While the police have facilitated a meeting with higher authorities, there has been no official statement yet from SP Saeed Ahmed or the department regarding the veracity of the marriage claims. Higher officials are expected to conduct an inquiry into the matter to determine the facts of the case.
