LAHORE (HRNW): On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), Hina Parvez Butt, has taken strict notice of the tragic murder of a 22-year-old woman in the Green Town area. She has sought an immediate report from the DIG Operations Lahore regarding the incident.
According to details, on April 27, 2026, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her brother-in-law, identified as Rizwan, over suspicions regarding her character.
Police Action and Investigation:

Swift Arrest: Upon receiving the report, police moved quickly to secure the crime scene. The suspect, Rizwan, was apprehended from the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area shortly after the incident.

Evidence Collection: The murder weapon (a knife) was recovered from the suspect’s possession. Teams from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) have collected vital evidence from the site to assist in the prosecution.

Monitoring: Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt stated that the case will be closely monitored to ensure the perpetrator receives the maximum legal punishment.

Condemning the incident in the strongest terms, Hina Parvez Butt characterized “honor killing” as a peak form of brutality and an unforgivable crime.
“No individual has the right to take a woman’s life based on suspicion, allegation, or so-called ‘honor.’ Killers of women deserve no leniency. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, there will be zero compromise on the safety of women and the provision of justice.”
She further emphasized that such incidents are a moment of reflection for society and that the Punjab government remains committed to providing all possible legal assistance to the victim’s family.
