Saudi Interior Ministry Announces Strict Penalties for Illegal Hajj; Violators Face Heavy Fines and 10-Year Entry Ban

RIYADH (HRNW): The Saudi Ministry of Interior has announced a stringent set of penalties and legal actions against foreigners attempting to perform Hajj without a valid permit. These measures are part of the Kingdom’s comprehensive security plan to ensure the safety and orderly conduct of pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj season.

Breakdown of Penalties for Foreigners:

According to the official statement, any expatriate (Iqama holder) caught entering Makkah without a permit, staying in the holy sites illegally, or participating in Hajj rituals without authorization will face the following:

  • Heavy Fines: Financial penalties ranging from 20,000 SAR to 100,000 SAR.

  • Deportation: Immediate expulsion from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

  • Entry Ban: A formal ban prohibiting re-entry into Saudi Arabia for a period of 10 years.

Warning to Local Citizens and Facilitators:

The Ministry also issued a stern warning to Saudi citizens and residents against facilitating illegal pilgrims. Those found providing transportation, accommodation, or any form of assistance to individuals without Hajj permits will be subject to heavy fines and imprisonment.

Ensuring Foolproof Security:

Saudi authorities emphasized that the security and well-being of legitimate pilgrims are of paramount importance. To achieve this, security checkpoints around Makkah and the holy sites are being reinforced to ensure a “foolproof” environment, allowing only those with verified legal documentation to fulfill their religious obligations.
