Rangers Neutralize ‘Chandio Gang’ in Karachi: Ringleader Among Three Arrested for Robbery and Steel Theft

KARACHI (HRNW): Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) have conducted a targeted operation based on intelligence leads in the Sindhi Goth area, resulting in the arrest of three key members of the notorious ‘Chandio’ gang. The apprehended individuals, including the gang’s ringleader, are allegedly involved in a wide range of street crimes and large-scale theft of industrial metals.

According to a spokesperson for the Sindh Rangers, the arrested suspects have been identified as Rajab alias Raju (the gang leader), Munir Ali Chandio alias Munnu, and Abdul Jabbar alias Baqir. Law enforcement officials recovered a motorcycle, five counterfeit license plates, and a quantity of cash from their possession.

Criminal Profile and Operations

  • Widespread Robberies: The gang was active across several neighborhoods, including Shah Latif Town, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Steel Town, Quaidabad, Manghopir Road, Pipri, and Gaddafi Town. They reportedly used firearms to snatch mobile phones and cash from citizens.

  • Industrial Theft: Beyond street crimes, the suspects are accused of stealing iron and copper from the Pakistan Steel Mills.

  • Repeat Offenders: Records show that the suspects are habitual criminals with multiple FIRs already registered against them at various police stations across the city.

The Rangers have handed over the suspects and the recovered items to the police for further legal proceedings. Raids are ongoing to capture their remaining accomplices.
