KARACHI (HRNW): Despite the holy month of Ramadan, street crime continues to escalate in the provincial capital. A tragic sequence of events near Jamshed Road has highlighted severe police inaction, resulting in the loss of an innocent life.
Just a few days ago, four armed dacoits on two motorcycles snatched a mobile phone, cash, and a Honda 70 motorcycle (Registration No. KTS-6380) from a citizen in the area. Although CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, the local police failed to apprehend the suspects.
Tragedy struck six days later at the exact same location. Dacoits attempted to rob another citizen, opening fire when he resisted. According to Chhipa sources, the victim was identified as 45-year-old Salah Sheikh. He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Despite the news of Salah Sheikh’s murder being widely broadcast, no departmental action has been taken against the SHO of the Jamshed Quarters Police Station. Citizens are now raising a poignant question: If the police had acted on the first incident and arrested the gang identified in the viral footage, could Salah Sheikh’s life have been saved? The apparent lack of accountability continues to embolden criminals while leaving citizens vulnerable and fearful.
