Abu Dhabi (HRNW)- Following two days of talks in Abu Dhabi, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 314 prisoners, marking the first major prisoner swap in five months, but no significant progress has been made on a broader agreement to end the war. The talks, mediated by the United States, were described as detailed and positive, though US representative Steve Vitkov emphasized that “important and difficult work remains” to resolve the conflict. Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev claimed some progress, but territorial disputes remain unresolved. Meanwhile, Russia continues attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, leaving parts of Kyiv without electricity and heating amid bitter cold. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported at least 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed since February 2022, while Russia has not disclosed its casualty figures.
