Kabul Systematic Erasure of Women’s Rights

Kabul, Afghanistan (HRNW) — New restrictive decrees have further curtailed the movement of women, effectively banning them from public parks and private gyms in several provinces. These latest measures, coupled with the ongoing ban on secondary and higher education, are being described by international observers as “gender apartheid.” Human rights defenders on the ground report an increase in arbitrary detentions of women who dare to protest these stifling regulations.
