Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has declared that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be reopened through war, military action, or U.S. pressure, insisting that any restoration of normal maritime traffic must come through respect for Iran’s rights and national sovereignty.
According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said the Iranian armed forces would not retreat from their position on the Strait of Hormuz under any circumstances.
He stated that the strategic waterway would not be reopened through war, provocation, or U.S. aggression, adding that the only path to restoring normal navigation is for the international community to respect the rights of the Iranian people and recognize Iran’s legitimate demands.
Brigadier General Akraminia further said that Iran would not compromise on its national sovereignty or security, stressing that following recent military tensions and attacks, the country remains committed to defending its national interests.
The military spokesman also said Iran remains committed to avenging the blood of its martyrs, including what he referred to as the “martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution,” adding that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
The statement comes as tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continue to rise, with the ongoing dispute between Iran and the United States fueling concerns over global maritime trade and oil shipments.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors, carrying a significant share of global crude oil and natural gas exports. Experts warn that any prolonged disruption in the waterway could directly affect global energy markets, oil prices, and international trade.
International observers say that successful diplomatic efforts will be essential to easing regional tensions and restoring safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
