According to media reports from India, Akshay Kumar Dwivedi, an Additional Sessions Judge posted in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, has attracted public attention for his simple lifestyle and commitment to judicial service.
Reports claim that Judge Dwivedi has declined a government bungalow, official VIP vehicle, and several other state-provided privileges. Instead, he reportedly lives in a small room, prepares his own meals, and walks to the courthouse each day.
Media reports further state that he has requested the Madhya Pradesh High Court to reduce his salary by half. It is also claimed that the only personal possession he owns is a mobile phone gifted to him by his mother. In addition, he has reportedly chosen to remain unmarried and has informed the judicial authorities that he is willing to serve anywhere in the country while accepting only the minimum government facilities required for his duties.
According to the reports, Judge Dwivedi decided to pursue a career in the judiciary after witnessing his mother struggle through lengthy court proceedings over a property dispute during his childhood. This experience is said to have inspired his commitment to delivering timely justice. As a result, he reportedly gives special priority to resolving land and property disputes efficiently so that litigants do not have to endure prolonged legal battles.
