SMEs Are the Backbone of Pakistan’s Economy, Government Committed to Their Growth: Haroon Akhtar

Islamabad (HRNW)- Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan has said that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and the government is taking all possible steps to promote them.

Haroon Akhtar Khan inaugurated the new central office of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in Islamabad and said that, for the first time, SMEDA’s central office has been established and activated in the federal capital on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, SMEDA has been assigned new goals and responsibilities to provide more effective support to small, medium, and home-based businesses across the country.

The Special Assistant said that investment, local production, and exports will be increased through a business-friendly environment, modern technology, training, and improved access to financial facilities.

Haroon Akhtar Khan added that encouraging youth and women entrepreneurs is a key part of the government’s economic strategy. He said the development of SMEs will create new employment opportunities, promote industrial growth, and contribute to sustainable economic stability. He emphasized that the government is strengthening SMEDA to provide better services to entrepreneurs under one roof, stating that strong SMEs are the guarantee of a strong Pakistan.
