Islamabad (HRNW) – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a simplified procedure for citizens seeking to update the residential address on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
According to an awareness video released by NADRA, individuals living in rented accommodation can now apply to change either their temporary or permanent address by submitting specified supporting documents.
For a temporary address change, applicants are required to provide:
- A copy of the tenancy agreement (rent agreement).
- A copy of a recent electricity bill for the residence.
For those wishing to register a rented residence as their permanent address, NADRA requires the above documents along with an affidavit from the property owner confirming that:
- The property has been rented to the applicant.
- The owner has no objection to the tenant using the address as their permanent residential address.
If the applicant is living in a self-owned property, only the original property ownership documents are required for verification.
NADRA further clarified that its officials scan the original documents at the registration center, eliminating the need for applicants to submit photocopies.
The authority stated that the initiative is intended to make the address change process more convenient and accessible for citizens while ensuring proper verification of residential information.
